Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 30, 2026 · Effective immediately for Screenplay X-Ray v0.1.0 and all subsequent versions unless updated here.

The short version

Screenplay X-Ray collects nothing. Your screenplay never leaves your Mac. The app does not phone home, does not track usage, does not analyze your file in the cloud, does not require an account, and does not contain any third-party analytics, telemetry, or advertising SDKs.

What the app does on your Mac

When you open a screenplay PDF, the app reads the file from your disk into memory and parses its structure (sluglines, character cues, dialogue, action paragraphs). All parsing happens locally inside the app process on your machine. Nothing is uploaded, sent, or shared externally.

When you save a visualization, the app writes a .xray.json file to a location you select via the standard macOS save dialog. The contents of that file stay on your Mac unless you choose to share or move them yourself.

The app makes no outbound network requests in normal operation.

What we collect

Nothing. Specifically:

Screenplay X-Ray does not contain a sign-up flow, a login, or any feature that would require collecting data from you.

If you contact support

If you email us at mrkavv@gmail.com for support, your email and any contents you share are stored in our email provider's inbox (Google Workspace / Gmail) and used only to respond to your request. We don't add you to any mailing list, share your contact with third parties, or retain your email beyond what's needed to resolve the issue.

If you voluntarily share a screenplay PDF to help reproduce a parser bug, that file is used only to fix the bug and is deleted from our systems once the issue is resolved. We don't keep, share, or reuse your screenplay for any other purpose.

If you purchase via the Mac App Store

Apple handles the purchase, billing, refunds, and any download analytics. Apple's privacy practices govern that interaction; see Apple's privacy policy. We receive aggregate sales reports from Apple but no personal information about individual buyers.

Children's privacy

Screenplay X-Ray is not targeted at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change what data the app collects or how it's used, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. For the current architecture (no data collection at all), substantive changes would only come from adding genuinely new optional features — and any such feature would be opt-in and clearly disclosed at the moment of opt-in.
