Support

For Screenplay X-Ray v0.1.0

Get in touch

Bugs, feature requests, parser problems with a specific PDF, or anything else — email mrkavv@gmail.com.

If you can share the screenplay PDF that's causing trouble, it makes parser fixes much faster. Your file is only used to reproduce the issue and isn't shared.

Common questions

Does it work with Final Draft / Highland / Fade In files?

Any standard screenplay PDF export works. Screenplay X-Ray's parser handles industry-standard formatting: sluglines (INT. / EXT.), character cues, dialogue, action, parentheticals, and the usual cue noise (V.O., O.S., CONT'D, MORE).

Does my screenplay leave my computer?

No. The PDF is parsed entirely on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded, no account is created, no telemetry is sent. See the privacy page for the full story.

Does it edit my script?

No. The app only reads your PDF. The original screenplay file is never modified or touched in any way.

What's a .xray.json file?

When you save a visualization, the app writes a small file (typically <500 KB) containing the parsed structure plus your UI choices: sequences you grouped, characters you highlighted, the sort mode you picked. Reopening one lets you pick up exactly where you left off, or compare versions across drafts.

My PDF doesn't parse right.

Some PDFs export with non-standard formatting, or are scanned images instead of text. Email me the file and I'll look at what's going wrong with the parser. Fixes ship in subsequent versions.

Does it support TV scripts?

Yes — TV teleplays use the same standard formatting and parse fine. The grid works the same way.

Will there be a Windows or Linux version?

Not currently planned. The app is built with Electron so cross-platform is technically possible — if there's demand, email and let me know.

How do I uninstall?

Drag Screenplay X-Ray from your Applications folder to the Trash. Nothing else needs cleaning up — no daemons, no preferences hidden in obscure folders, no system extensions.
